PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH
The Physical and Mental Health Committee of the Lake Charles Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is dedicated to promoting holistic wellness through education, advocacy, service, and community engagement. Guided by the Sorority's national Journey to Wellness: Committing Our Bodies to Physical and Mental Health initiative, the committee works to empower individuals to make informed decisions that support lifelong physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Our work centers on three key focus areas:
-
Physical Activity and Healthy Eating
-
Physical Health and Chronic Disease Prevention
-
Mental Health and Emotional Wellness
Throughout the year, the committee partners with local organizations and healthcare professionals to provide educational programs, health awareness initiatives, fitness activities, and community service opportunities. Signature efforts include participation in local health awareness walks, wellness challenges, health education events, mental health programming, and initiatives that address chronic disease prevention, breast cancer awareness, heart health, diabetes prevention, and other health concerns impacting our community.
The committee is committed to fostering a culture of wellness by encouraging healthy lifestyles, reducing health disparities, and providing resources that strengthen individuals, families, and the communities we proudly serve.
